Hey, we are back and to catch you up on the past year that you have missed, as of 2018 Lawson is 2, Sanders is 5, Kallie is 9, and I( Kennedy Jane), am 11. I am the new author!!!! I will be posting as much as possible. Anyway, back to filling you in. Kennedy Jane got her braces off in June. Instead of 9 months it was 2 years. She will get them back on in June of 2019. We will start posting every time we have a big event. Once school starts again, Sanders will be in kindergarten, Kallie will be in the 4th grade, and Kennedy Jane will be in middle school/6th grade, and on the upper campus!!! The other events that have happened are a trip to New York City, NY, the beach, the Grand Hotel, and numerous Sunday Fundays. Most Wedensdays we go to the library to listen to a Storytime and do a craft based on the story. Now you are all caught up on Camp Gane. Stay tuned for new updates on Camp Gane.

Lawsie's  1st Year
Lawson's first year has gone by in a flash.  So many happy moments, engraved in the memory banks forever.  This sweet little baby has added more joy to our lives, than we possibly could have imagined.  She may be the CABOOSE, but she is not to be left behind.  You might say, Lawson is in charge.
Sister's love begins and lasts forever
Sanders (3) Lawson (brand new)

Sanders is making sure the nurse does everything right.

Christening Day.  the day Lawson was dedicated to God.  A very special day.
Celebrating Sanders' 4th birthday at the Grand Hotel.  We had a Grand time indeed.

A little nap poolside at the Grand Hotel

Lawson loves the water.  Splashing around at the Splash pad.  Oh so fun!
Because this basket is in her way.  Maybe if I stretch, I can reach it!

Because I'm getting so big.

Lawsie is 1!!

Lawson is the 4th Granddaughter pictured with the chair from my old farm house

These two make my heart smile

The END
Lawson is ONE

Now There Are Four

Camp Gane is growing on up. Kennedy Jane enjoys tennis.  Kallie loves being pampered.  Sanders sometimes poses.  Lawson is snugly and oh so sweet. Who knew 4 was the magic number of Camp Gane Board of Directors?
My lap and heart overflows with sheer pleasure.

It's a Wrap

Kennedy Jane and Kallie demonstrated some of what they learned at Dance Camp, at Gayle' Studio of Dance. They had a great time.
The Gang was all there to watch their performance. Lawson made her debut at the dance performance at the age of 3 weeks. She slept the entire time. Good for her.
Sanders loved seeing the "Big Girls" dance, but was a bit dissatisfied that she couldn't join them and show off her moves. After all she is Big now....3 years old.
Congratulations to "The Big Girls".  Kallie plans to continue dance this fall. She chooses ballet.

Keeping Up With the Reids

Help me welcome Lawson Ryann Reid to Camp Gane.  She now serves as a full member of the Board of Directors of Camp Gane. We couldn't be more excited and proud of the newest member.
Sanders makes the greatest big sister, and now joins ranks with the Big Girls, Kennedy Jane and Kallie.  Sanders points out that she is not a baby. She will forever be my Baby Grand. Lawson is the caboose.

Another 1st in the Books

Kennedy Jane played in her 1st tennis tournament, at Gulf Shores.
We loaded up very early Saturday morning, to slide in just in time for her 8:00 a.m. match.  She got off to a rough start, but everybody has to start somewhere. The learning curve is very steep. Her 2nd and 3rd match, though she lost, was a huge improvement. She said she had a blast.  That's the important part.
And she looked very cute!

Kennedy Jane has been taking tennis lessons for a little over a year.   She 1st participated in tennis clinics, and caught the tennis bug.  She loves tennis, and that makes me happy.

Starting in Apil, she started hitting with a coach.  She has improved with each lesson. It was just a few days ago, Kati and Ali we're learning to play tennis. It served them well through high school and Jr. College.  Tennis was my game many moons ago.  I suppose you could say, it runs in the family.

We had big plans to spend the rest of the day on the beach.  Another 1st!  For the first time, there was no room on the public beach.  Parking was nonexistent.  I suppose, a few other folks wanted to go to the beach.

The day was salvaged by friends over to swim with Kallie and Kennedy Jane.

Braces

My Big girl is growing on up. Got braces today.  She was a bit anxious, but as always, she braved-up, and handled it like a pro.  In a blink, her teeth will be lined up and ready to shine for life. I'm very proud of Kennedy Jane.  She is kind, smart and very pretty, braces and all.

Today was movie day at Camp Gane.  All 3 Grands enjoyed movie and pop corn. Next up was Chick-fil-A.  Kallie and Sanders passed the afternoon away playing, while Kennedy Jane was at the orthodontist.  Baby Grand and I snuck in a long nap, while the big girls rested in their rooms.

To finish out the day, we invited the Moms, to join us for supper at the "Time".
Whew!

Kennedy Jane's Thoughts

Hi, this is Kennedy Jane. At Camp Gane we have a nickname system....mine is Big. I'm the oldest of three grands. We have another baby coming in July. We have a tight schedule here. We don't have Sanders on Mondays and Tuedays. Monday, we go to the Semmes library for summer programs at 1:30. Tuesdays, we go to Gales dance studio for a 10:00 to 4:00 dance camp for 6 weeks. Then, Wedensday, Thursday, and Friday come and we get Sanders for the rest of the week. Wedensday, is when we go to the Moore Branch Library and go to Storytime with Mr. Butch. Then, we are off to Polemans Bakery for a chicken salad sandwich and a cookie afterwards. Then, Thursday comes we go to Carmike Cinemas to see the movie that they have on. They have this program that has most popular movies, but they are old. Friday is just a lay around day. We usually go to either Sanders or our house to play for the day. Being the oldest of three grands, I have to say, it feels like a party everyday!

Encouraged

My sweet Kennedy Jane loves to read our blog.  As the 2 or 3 of you,who enjoy keeping up with Camp Gane, know that I have be slacking.  Kennedy Jane told me that when she gets older, she will continue with Camp Gane. Then maybe one day, her children will enjoy reading about Camp Gane.  So, I'm feeling encouraged.  I'm dusting off the rusty writing, and boldly moving forward with the Camp Gane blog.  Applause please!

A Tea Party for 3

On this very cold day, Kennedy Jane didn't feel up to going to school. Kati was working out of town, so all 3 Grands played at The Reid's house.  It was a very exciting day. A Tea Party for 3.

I put on a pot of chili, which seemed quite fitting for this cold day.  The big Grands had a good time playing with Baby Grand. Sanders had a grand time. I am a bit weary, but any day spent with my 3 Grands is a grand day.

I encourage all grandparents to seize the opportunity to enjoy your Grands.  Time gets by at an alarming rate.

Camp Gane...Open for Business

Camp Gane is open for business. Ali is back working out of her home, and Kati's schedule is back to crazy.

Kennedy Jane is recovering from a tonsillectomy and came home from school early. Sander's was very excited to find Kennedy Jane and Kallie at her house when she got up from her nap. The house was filled with giggles and screams. Sharing is most overrated. Good times!

Love my 3 Grands.

Thankful

On this Sunday before Thanksgiving, I am feeling grateful.  I have so many things to be thankful for. Where shall I start?

I am thankful for my best friend Betsy, aka Fat Friend, or according to Sanders "Fiend". Thank you BFF for having Ali, Sanders and me to the Hill.  Going home is filled with so
many emotions. You see, all of my family is celebrating at the ultimate Thanksgiving table in heaven, along with some special Angels that briefly touched our lives.   So when I go home, my BFF opens her home to me, so I do get to go home. Thank you BFF.

The Baby Grand helped put the flowers at the cemetery.

Thank you to my friend Linda Dean, who lets us use her football tickets, so 3 of us can go to the game and sit together.

I am thankful for another fun football season in the memory books.  You see, my Daddy graduated from Auburn University so Auburn football is our family tradition. I have been going to Auburn football games since I was a little girl.  My girls started out going to football games when they were little girls.  Kennedy Jane and Kallie have gone to football games.  Kati and I went to two games this year.  Ali, Baby Grand and I went for Sander's first game yesterday. We had a grand time. I am thankful for Kati and Ryan and Ali, and my 3 Grands.

I am thankful for my favorite son-in-law, Ryan, who is already working on the Thanksgiving turkey. He never disappoints. I missed the good cooking family gene.  My sweet Mama was a great cook, and so was my sister. They spoiled me in so many ways.  Thanksgiving meals are not quite the same, but nonetheless are filled with love and memories.

I am thankful for my favorite quilt, Christmas Hallmark movies on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

To Blinker or Not to Blinker?

In a time of doubt or confusion, use your blinker.  And when you use your blinker, turn in the direction the blinker indicates.  Just saying.

Traffic is a part of life, but it astounds me at the heinously bad drivers that inhabit my area.  Congestion is a mild understatement.  However, when one uses a modicum of common sense, a splash of common courtesy, and use a blinker, some of the congestion can be avoided.

So to blinker or not to blinker?  Blinker!

What are some of your pet peeves of drivers?

Keep the thankful in Thanksgiving.  I am thankful that I am out of traffic for today.

A Pot of Soup

A pot of soup cooking on my stove is an extremely uncommon occurrence. I seldom cook, and soup is certainly not my speciality.

I was inspired by a friend to try lentils.  To my knowledge, I have never eaten lentils.  I didn't even know what they looked like.  This friend changed her diet to exclude all meats and sugars.  She looks amazing and is extremely healthy these days.  She eats a lot of lentils.

Not sure my lentil soup passed the healthy test.  It didn't exclude meats. Oh no...my lentil soup has Conecuh sausage and chicken broth.  It also included rotel, which adds the hot and spicy flavor.  I like hot and spicy.

It was actually very good, which is a really good thing.  There is enough lentil soup to feed the ten thousands.  I am 999 thousand short of the ten thousands.

It may not pass the meatless test, but it does pass the first time test.  Try something new.  There are many new things, even if you are a 'Boomer".

Can you think of something new to try.  Try hard, even when it is hard to try.  Who knew about lentils!

Add cornbread muffins compliments of Cracker Barrell and I am all set.

Keeping Up with the Reids

A great birthday celebration tonight with the family. Ryan and I always choose the Mariner on Dog River for our birthday supper. Food certainly didn't disappoint tonight. Fried crab claws and shrimp....yummy.

The Grands were very gracious in helping the birthday boy with birthday pie.  Happy birthday Big Guy.
While waiting for supper the Grands and I waited on the outside deck over the river.  The Big Grands were performing various dance moves and some of their favorite tunes.  Baby Grand was doing her very best to keep up with the big girls.  It warms my heart to watch my 3 Grands dancing and singing and being children.

I love my 3 Grands.

This Little Light of Mine

Baby Grand went on her first CIF field trip to the Pratt Turner Center.  The Pratt Turner Center is a favorite of mine.  I was part of the team that built that center.

Some of my most treasured memories of my career are working with Ms Joy at the Pratt Turner Center.  Ms Joy's little light shines brightly in the forest.  So much to learn from Ms. Joy.

Baby Grand was very impressed with Ms Joy.
God's light was shinning down on that sweet baby.

Walking along the nature trail was great fun. So much to see and do.

The highlight of my day was Fluff and pimento cheese.  Ms Joy makes the most delicious treats.
It was a beautiful day to be outside.  Having that Baby Grand along for her first Classroom in the Forrst Field trip, made this a memorable day for me.

My Little Light shines brightly when I spend time with My 3 Grands.  Where does your Little Light Shine brightly? Find that special Little Light and let God's love shine through you.  Now go SHINE!!!
